Johanna Watling
General Secretary
Hello and welcome to the UK Hospitality Union, your new trade union for the UK hospitality industry. Firstly, let me introduce myself. I am Johanna Watling and I created the UKHU after spending the last 20 years in the hospitality sector doing what you do. I have held many .
positions and take pride that I started as a young waitress. I recognise hospitality workers as skilled key workers having undergone professional training and gaining specialist qualifications. You are the backbone of our industry. You are often working 24hrs a day, serving the public 365 days a year of bank holidays and religious festivals. Whilst others celebrate you are there to cook, clean and see to their every need. It is only right your pay and working conditions reflect this dedication. It is also only right you have a trade union, a voice, somebody to turn to.
Together let’s help shape the future of the hospitality industry. My mission for the UKHU is to change the culture and practice of the UK hospitality industry and to provide members with excellent benefits to reward their dedication for their hard work and commitment
